Elemental Next Door

This wonderful hidden gem is worth taking time to find it. If I would have relied on my GPS, I would've ended up on Queen Anne. As soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted with a complementary glass of champagne. The décor is simple/modern – cement floors, blonde wooden tables and sparse furnishings. There are no menus; rather, the daily food items are printed on a roll of butcher paper adjacent to the bar area. There is no beer and wine list; instead, you pick a bottle off the tiered shelving system. Each bottle is $30 or you can choose a half bottle for $15. They offer a great selection (mostly French and Italian wines) for the price! To cap it all off, their prices are inclusive of tax and service.

We chose a Walla Walla wine (Pendulum) and were pleased with the selection. Our server knew enough about wine to suggest Pendulum to me when I asked for a bold, Washington red. For starters, we had the popcorn with truffle oil and manchego stuffed peppers. Both were outstanding. For dinner, we split the asparagus stuffed homemade ravioli and the halibut with potatos and leeks. Again, we were pleased with both selections. The fish was cooked perfectly.

It was a very pleasurable dining experience—the service was great, the food selection was ecclectic and plentiful and the wine was delicious. I would definitely bring guests here for dinner, and if it's bright enough afterwards, I'd take them for a walk through Gas Works Park.

Welcome!

After encouragement from friends, I decided to create a blog about things to do in greater Seattle that, to some, might be off the beaten path.  It is a work in progress, so bear with  me while I work out the kinks.
